A Journey from Club to Pro Car Racing
The podium at Daytona Raceway.
Finishing the "24 Hours of Daytona".
Crossing the finish line at Daytona Raceway upon completing the "24 Hours of Daytona" Grand American race. Here we were driving a Lola in the LMP2 class and we actually won our class! It is VERY difficult to win any race and this one is particularly difficult to win making it a special accomplishment.
Car engineer downloading race data.
Professional racing involves the constant use of data acquisition. Information about the car and driver are continually monitored in real-time. Here some feedback is provided to the driver at the same time the data engineer is downloading race information.
In and out without a flash.
For the 24 hour race, we had four drivers, many driver changes, and many fuel stops. Pit strategy becomes a major factor as well as quick driver changes and efficient fuel stops. It is quite a challenge to change drivers quickly and get ready to drive out of the pits ready to race.
Time to relax after a grueling race.
Racing at the pro level in the premiere Grand America Series race, the "24 Hours of Daytona", is quite a jump from where we started in club racing. Along the way we made many friends, learned about all levels of racing, and took away experiences that we will never forget.
